We are in a huge trough right now resulting from all of the cold air coming down and causing the warm air from the past few days to rise up, causing uplifting and heating the air to form precipitation.

This terrible weather is supposed to last into the weekend. Clearer skies and warmer weather should be here by Sunday and into Monday.
